Frequently Asked Questions
What is a White Card and why do I need one?
A White Card is the mandatory construction induction card required for anyone entering or working on a construction site in Australia. It proves you understand basic workplace health and safety, how to identify hazards, and how to work safely. You need a White Card before you can legally start any type of construction work, including labouring, trades, site supervision or even occasional site visits.
How long is the course?
The White Card course is generally completed in one day and takes around 6 to 7 hours of training
What happens if I don't have 100 points of ID?
You must meet the required identification rules to be issued a White Card. If you cannot provide 100 points of ID you will no be allowed to commence the course
Is the White Card valid nationally?
Yes. A White Card issued in any Australian state or territory is nationally recognised, meaning you can use the same card to work on construction sites across all of Australia
What do I receive after completing the course?
You will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit CPCCWHS1001. We will also give you a temporary certificate so you can start work immediately. Your official physical White Card is then posted to you by SafeWork NSW.
Can I do the course online only?
In NSW, the White Card course must include real-time, trainer-led delivery. Fully self-paced online courses are not accepted. You must complete the training either face-to-face or through an approved online virtual classroom format such as zoom or teams.
I hold an IMMI card – what should I do?
An IMMI card can be used as part of your ID. Please contact our office prior to making your booking as we are required to contact SafeWork NSW.
