Frequently Asked Questions
How often can I attend HSR Refresher training?
You are entitled to attend one refresher course each year during your term as an HSR. The entitlement starts 12 months after completing your initial 5-day course.
What's the difference between HSR Refresher and the 5-Day Initial Course?
5-day course is for newly elected HSRs who haven’t been trained. The 1-day refresher renews and updates the knowledge of HSRs who have already completed the initial training.
I lost my original HSR certificate. Can I still attend?
Contact your original training provider to request a replacement certificate. If you’re unable to obtain one, please contact us to discuss your options.
Can I attend if I completed my HSR training in another state?
No. This course is specifically for HSRs operating under NSW WHS legislation. If you’ve moved to NSW, you may need to complete the full 5-day NSW course.
Is the online course the same as face-to-face?
Yes. Both delivery methods cover identical content and result in the same SafeWork NSW Certificate of Attendance.
What if I'm not an elected HSR but want to learn about WHS?
You’re welcome to attend, but you’ll receive a general Certificate of Attendance rather than the official SafeWork NSW HSR certificate.
Do I need to complete the refresher to issue PINs?
No. Once you’ve completed your initial 5-day HSR training, you can issue PINs. However, annual refresher training keeps your knowledge current and strengthens your confidence in using your powers.
